Jewelry Care and Maintenance

All metal jewelry that is constructed of any substance other than 24k Gold, Titanium, Platinum, or Niobium will oxidize over time. To delay this, I advise you to store your jewelry in a cool, dry place with Silica crystals or Anti-Tarnish strips. Silica Crystals are available at Craft Supply stores, such as Michael's. They are generally used to dry flowers, but when kept in a sachet in your jewelry box, they will help delay the tarnishing of your jewelry pieces.

All jewelry that has been set with stones, crystals, or pearls should be kept separate from other items to reduce the chance of damage and scratches. Jewelry that uses a prong setting in it's design should be checked annually by a jeweler to guard against worn or broken settings. In addition, I recommend checking your jewelry for loose clasps, links or worn chains before wearing any item.

To keep the appearance of your jewelry pieces at its utmost, I recommend cleaning them every 3-6 months with a cleaning solution. Most commercial silver cleaners are NOT safe for pearls and soft, porous, or striated stones. Upon request, you may order from Kaelin Design a bottle of Jewel Brite professional jewelry cleaner, which is safe for Opals, Pearls, soft stones, and antique jewelry. A metal cleaner will remove all color from a metal's surface. If your piece has a dark oxidized finish, please us a small amount of dish soap on a lint free cloth and rinse well. Please keep in mind that heirloom and antique jewelry often have a value associated with their patina. Consult an appraiser before cleaning any potentially valuable item.

Magnetic clasps should not be worn by anyone with a pacemaker. Non-magnetic clasps are available upon request.
